:rocket: Resonite Login is Now Live!

Hey everyone!

I’ve been working behind the scenes to make Disconite even more integrated with the universe we love. Thanks to some help from the Resonite team, we now have a functional Resonite OAuth system built directly into the forum!

:key: How to Link Your Account

We are moving toward an automated system. If you are an existing user, please follow these steps to link your identity:

  1. Log in with your existing forum credentials.
  2. Go to your Profile (click your avatar in the top right).
  3. Click on the person to open your account options.
  4. Select the Preferences (gear icon).
  5. Navigate to Account.
  6. Click the button to connect your Resonite account.

Note: If your Resonite and Disconite emails match, you can try logging in directly via the Resonite button on the login screen!

:shield: A Special Note for Mentors

To keep things streamlined, manual Mentor roles have been removed in favor of OAuth.

If you were previously a Mentor on the forum, please link your Resonite account using the steps above. The system will now use your Resonite profile information to verify your status and permissions automatically.

Now that you’ve linked your Resonite account, you might have access to new titles or badges based on your roles. Here is how to make sure you’re representing yourself correctly:

  1. Click your Avatar in the top-right corner and select the User icon (:bust_in_silhouette:) then Preferences (:gear:).
  2. On the sidebar, ensure you are in the Account section.
  3. Scroll down to Title. Use the dropdown menu to select your preferred designation (e.g., “Mentor”).
  4. If your group grants you an icon, look for the Avatar Flair dropdown just below that and select your favorite.
  5. Hit Save Changes at the bottom.

If you don’t see the title you expect, make sure your Resonite account is successfully linked first! Otherwise, if you still miss any, please contact @Xeravax.

In the future, the local account credentials may be removed in favor of Resonite login/Discourse ID login. However, this is not certain and has to be evaluated before that time.

I was almost hoping we’d be like Resonite where we spam under the icon with all the icons a user has.

Or maybe it doing that when you click on a user’s icon to see their mini profile.
